Prepare, explain, lobby

We asked RNDr. about their perception of their contribution to the direction of the Transfera.cz association in the upcoming four-year period et Mgr. Ruzena Stemberkova, Ph.D., MPA, Head of the Technology Transfer Office of the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice and Vice President of the Association.

I think the basic direction remains the same. Transfera should be dedicated to addressing common issues at home, in Europe and globally and continue to represent OUR transfer community. Each of us can do our part. In my case, for example within the European Patent Office through the EPO PATLIB Committee, where I have the honour to represent the Visegrad Region, as an RM Roadmapping Ambassador, in border regions and by promoting our common themes at the level of the MMR Monitoring Committee, of which I am an active member. Last but not least, continue to deepen international relations with WORLD IP FORUM, UIIN, AUTM, ASTP and other active transfer organizations.

The national level

Even at the national level, I will explain, lobby, and “prepare the ground” for projects and challenges that can promote technology transfer in its entirety – this is helped by serving on a number of boards as an expert, working group member or evaluator of national and international projects.

Another task I have set myself for the coming term is to create a functional network of players involved in innovation processes not only in the most beautiful South Bohemia region, but across the regions of our country. This is important for sharing examples of good and bad practice as well as for consulting on many professional transfer topics.

Expert topics of technology transfer

I also want to contribute to the professional treatment of topics related to technology transfer and its further development. The often-discussed topic of the social relevance of technology transfer and the “measurement” of its impact is worthy of attention. This has been repeatedly stated by international university review boards. Thus, setting up an approach within the framework of classical technology transfer and knowledge transfer. And the wish at the end? For example, creating a new national competition for the best innovation with a strong sponsor behind it. Quasi TRANSFERA AWARD, setting the rules, establishing the selection committee. I believe that to succeed in such a competition would be highly prestigious for all scientists and their teams from the Academy and universities.
